Michellene Bess
Children's Ministry Director
Michelene (Mish) Bess serves as the Children’s Ministry Director at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, having joined our ministry team in December 2024. Born and raised in Oklahoma as the youngest of three children and the daughter of a devoted Baptist preacher, Mish has been surrounded by faith from an early age. After graduating high school, she pursued her education in Texas, where she lived until two years ago upon her retirement.
Before becoming a part of EHBC, Mish dedicated 33 years to teaching and school administration in Texas, passionately guiding children in their educational journeys. Her thoughtful approach to education, coupled with her deep-rooted faith, has equipped her with the unique ability to connect with children on both an academic and spiritual level. She is happily married and is the proud mother of two grown children, along with an adorable 8-year-old fur buddy named Wilson.
In her role as the Children’s Ministry Director, Mish is committed to ensuring that every child encounter Jesus in a meaningful way. She strives to cultivate an environment where children feel a deep sense of belonging as members of God's family. Her genuine kindness and attentiveness allow her to nurture each child’s individual gifts and promote their spiritual growth.
Mish finds inspiration in Joel 1:3, which encourages us to share the wonders of God with the next generation: “Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.” This verse resonates with her belief that when Jesus takes root in a child’s heart, the impact of that seed will flourish throughout their lives.
Mish is thrilled to be part of the EHBC family, where her lifelong dedication to children, her passion for education, and her thoughtful spirit will contribute to making an eternal difference in the lives of our children and their families. Her dedicated heart and presence are a true blessing and inspiration as she uplifts our youngest members in their faith journeys.
